Blackmoore

by Julianne Donaldson · 2013

In 1820 England, spirited Kate Worthington refuses to accept the only path laid out for women—marriage. Dreaming of escape to India, she strikes a bargain with her meddling mother: she may travel abroad only after securing—and then rejecting—three suitors. Determined to fulfill the deal quickly, Kate returns to the family estate, Blackmoore, where she enlists the help of her childhood confidant, Henry Delafield. As the two navigate a series of proposals amid the wild moors, old loyalties and hidden desires surface, forcing Kate to confront the truth that has kept her heart captive. When the proposal she intends to turn down might be the very key to her freedom, Kate must decide whether to follow the rules of society or listen to the voice of her own heart. A Regency romance brimming with Austen‑like wit and Brontë‑style intrigue, Blackmoore is a captivating tale of love, choice, and the courage to chart one’s own destiny.
