Look Closer

by David Ellis · 2022

When a beautiful socialite is found hanging in a suburban mansion, the seemingly ordinary lives of Chicago’s elite unravel. Law professor Simon and his wife Vicky—an advocate for domestic‑violence victims—appear to have a stable, if dull, marriage, but beneath the surface lies a tangled web of secret affairs, a looming twenty‑million‑dollar trust fund, and a decades‑old vendetta. As the investigation deepens, each revelation exposes new lies, forcing the couple—and the reader—to question who is the true manipulator and who might be the perfect murderer. A fast‑paced, twist‑laden thriller that blends the psychological edge of *Gone Girl* with the chilling intrigue of *Strangers on a Train*, *Look Closer* keeps you guessing until the final, shocking turn.
