Brigands and Breadknives

by Travis Baldree · 2025

When veteran bookseller Fern Fern grows weary of the quiet routine of her shop, she packs up for a fresh start in the bustling city of Thune, setting up shop beside a long‑absent friend’s coffee house. She imagines a simple renovation will revive her spirit, but the city has other plans. A drunken night leaves Fern stumbling into the company of a weary legendary warrior, a chaos‑goblin imprisoned for a bounty on its silver‑loving antics, and a pounding hangover. Together they must fend off a colorful crew of brigands and miscreants who covet the goblin’s reward. As the unlikely trio battles through chaos, Fern discovers that fixing a life isn’t a one‑time makeover—it’s a messy, daring adventure that forces her to reconnect with the bold, unapologetic self she’s been hiding.
