Royal flush

by Rhys Bowen · 2009

In 1932 Scotland, Lady Georgiana Rannoch—34th in line for the throne and the kingdom’s most resourceful penniless heiress—finds herself thrust into a royal crisis. Queen Mary summons her back to Castle Rannoch to keep the flamboyant, divorced Wallis Simpson from ensnaring the Prince of Wales, while Scotland Yard quietly enlists her to shadow a high‑stakes shooting party at Balmoral and stop a plot to take the Prince’s life. Between dodging a scheming sister‑in‑law, a spineless brother, and a dwindling house‑cleaning business, Georgie takes on a stint as a dinner‑and‑theatre companion—only to discover her first client has a far more dangerous agenda. With aristocratic intrigue, family drama, and a dash of daring sleuthing, "Royal Flush" delivers a sparkling, fast‑paced mystery that pits a witty noblewoman against the very shadows of the British elite.
