The New York Trilogy

by Paul Auster · 1987

The New York Trilogy is a celebrated collection of three interlinked novels—*City of Glass*, *Ghosts*, and *The Locked Room*—that repurpose classic detective fiction into a radical, existential investigation. Paul Auster’s writer‑detectives chase clues that dissolve into uncanny coincidences, turning a simple pursuit into a profound inquiry into identity, language, and the nature of storytelling. The work is praised as a modern novel at its finest, blending noir intrigue with post‑modern metafiction and philosophical depth.
